Woody-based perennial. Newly introduced to the UK, this impressive species from Venezuela and Colombia boasts some of the largest leaves of any Salvia, at up to 30cm long, and they are extremely fragrant when rubbed. The striking flowers are a deep violet-blue, with a distinct white marking on the lower lip. They are produced in large whorls, on long stems from September onwards.
Has a reputation for being short-lived but is easily propagated from cuttings or seed.
