S. ‘Allen Chickering’

This is a hybrid between S. clevelandii and S. leucophylla which arose at the California Botanic Garden, is proving to be much tougher than we first anticipated.

Both of the parents are Californian natives and are found growing on free draining, sandy soils with plenty of sunlight. It forms a dense shrub to at least 3 feet tall and produces copious tiered whorls of lavender coloured flowers during summer and autumn.

The whole plant is extremely aromatic. Very drought-tolerant.
